I’m excited to say that I have been asked to be a part of a big comedy event that happening this summer in Cape May, NJ. The Cape May Comedy Festival is a weekend-long festival thats going to include a lot of different comedy events all over Cape May, including club shows, workshops, outdoor shows, comedy competitions, and a main event in their convention center (headliner yet to be officially announced).

So, what does this mean in terms of this site and it’s readers? The fine people putting together this awesome event were kind enough to pass me some free passes to the CMCF and they’re well aware that free stuff builds awareness more than most things and we’re going to be giving out passes right here on ‘Always Funny’.

All you have to do in order to get these free passes is visit one of our pages on either Facebook or Twitter and either repost or “retweet” our tweets and/or posts about the CMCF and type in 100 words or less about why they want to go the CMCF. From there, we’ll randomly choose a winner who will get a special free pass.

One of the events scheduled that I will be a part of is the Comedy Contest. Myself and a panel of other comedy figures will decide who gets to advance in a elimination-round-styled comedy competition that consists of eight rounds. The winner of said competition will win a bunch of prizes detailed below:

There will be EIGHT preliminary rounds, FOUR will be held on Friday and FOUR will be held on Saturday at Convention Hall.  In each preliminary round, TWELVE comics will perform a 5-7 minute long set. A special guest performer or group will be asked to perform at “Half Time” and “Math Time” (the end of the show when the judge’s score sheets are being tallied). The top scoring comic from each round will advance to the semi-finals along with TWO second-place Wild Card finishers. The top TEN from the preliminary rounds will compete on Saturday at the semi-finals, performing an 8-10 minute long set. The top THREE will then move on to compete on the Main Stage Saturday for the finals and will perform a 15-20 minute long set. The winner will be announced and will perform at the TWO Main Stage Shows with the Festival’s featured headliner on Saturday night. This is a judged contest. There will be a unique group of judges for each round. Judges score contestants in SEVEN categories on a scale of ONE to TEN.
